While the graduate engineer may have some practical work experience, he or she may not have yet earned the engineering license or the other essential credentials necessary to allow for independent, unsupervised, or consultative engineering work. Graduate engineer jobs are in essence the entry level roles within the engineering industry and are generally held by recent college graduates.
Graduates still perform work within the engineering profession. They can be from many different areas of the engineering field, including everything from mechanical engineering, to aerospace, to civil, electrical or chemical engineering.
Graduate engineers generally perform product design and testing activities. They can be involved in the collection of data and analysis of that data. They may also work in the design of manufacturing processes.
